What better way to show he’s got a different agenda than by having him literally face another direction? Sure, Thor’s positioning might just be meaningless choice by the poster designer, but what are we going to do until April 26 if not read way too much into even the tiniest detail? OkoyeOkoye's in a strangely similar position, facing away from the rest of the cast in what looks like an exact duplicate of her pose from her Black Panther promotional poster. Thor's arc in Endgame is likely going to be structured entirely around his guilt and getting revenge on Thanos, whereas the rest of the heroes seem focused on saving the many lives that were snapped away. So it really only makes sense that he's set apart in a similar way on the poster. Just look at his brief appearances in the trailers - he's constantly set apart from the rest of the team (with the exception of meeting Carol, of course), and doesn't seem to be included in the lineup as the Avengers walk through the hangar in their new space suits. After all, the whole snap is pretty much his fault, right? Bleak (and unfair) as that level of blame may be, it's absolutely the sort of thing Thor would internalize in the worst ways. It seems like an innocuous bit of composition until you really stop to think about where Thor's arc has taken him since Ragnarok. Virtually every other hero on the poster is looking to their right, while he's facing away, to his left. ThorHe may not be the largest figure in the mix, but Thor drew a ton of immediate attention thanks to his peculiar pose. We did our best to comb through every inch of the newly released Avengers: Endgame poster with that in mind, plucking out every possible clue and character angle we could uncover, from the major (what's going on with Thor?) to the minor (look at Steve using his shield to protect little Rocket) and everything in between. Misfit is in the center of the lid and Lemmy is in the outer. Vinyl is in the inner corner and inner third of the lid. Black Metal (and a touch of Licorice) is in the outer V. Vox is in the crease as well as slightly above it. Noble is under the brow, Analogue is blended out underneath. I got so frustrated that I had to get my Too Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Palette to touch up the corner and complete the look.Īlthough I hardly use white, this shimmer shade is fantastic quality. In my Green Look, there was one spot that refused to get any color. When I try to add more and blend, it fades to a dark grey and not the intense black that it initially seems. It looks very dark at first but it’s patchy. I have nothing else in my collection that is this shade of dark teal. I have to also draw comparisons to Dark Wave. This bright blue is similar in quality to Dark Wave but it’s very pigmented. This is a little uneven and powdery looking too but it’s a step up from Echo. It is one of those violet-blue colors I see in many other palettes and I have not had very good luck with the quality of those shades. I had a difficult time capturing its true pan color on camera (perhaps from the reflective glitter). It has a little fallout from the glitter, looks chalky and patchy. On the flip side, Echo is worse than Anthem. This looks powdery like Anthem but it is a bit more even in color and texture. Even though it feels soft, it looks chalky in swatches and on the lid. I liked this light pink shimmer shadow more than I expected. The quality of this matte is a bit better than Destroyer, but still patchy. The pigmentation is noticeably lacking, even on top of a primer. Black Metal is on the outer third of the lower lash line. Rewind is on the lid and 2/3 of the lower lash line. Harpsichord is the transition on both sides of Analogue. It is also mixed with Rewind on the outer third of the lid. Legend is the inner corner highlight and under the brow. It does need to be built up in order to see its full vibrancy. I call this shade a lemon-gold and until now I had nothing like it in my collection. I will get the least use out of a shade like this but it’s nice to have in case I ever need a bright yellow. I was surprised by how wonderful this matte orange looked on my skin. I have found no negatives to this eyeshadow. It is smooth both visually and in texture. This shade is perfection! It seems like the cosmetic industry makes coppery orange shades very well (that or I’m lucky) because I have not come across one yet that I have not liked. It’s a little uneven in my 2-swipe-swatch but it is buildable. It looks burgundy on my arm swatch but on my eyelid it looks closer to plum. This and Harpsichord are the two shades I was most excited to use. I wanted to get Raw Power from KVD’s Metal Crush eyeshadow line but Rewind is close enough to that shade that I now feel I can go without it. *The link is no longer working, however, I have kept it there in case it does return again. It is no longer in stock but there is an email option for it on the official Kat Von D website, so it may become available again for purchase there. This was a limited edition palette that I bought at Sephora. But today I have a review of the eyeshadow palette which is my new go-to for pops of color. With all of the holiday (and my birthday) celebrations going on, I had an unplanned vacation from my blog. |
